NetLibrary

Netlibrary gives you access to its collection of over 1300 eBooks and eAudiobooks. It can be accessed through the PLCMC website (you must have a PLCMC library card). Just go to the "online resources" page. Once you have an account you can log into Netlibrary directly.

It is browseable by subject, author, title or keyword. The eBooks can be viewed online, downloaded to a file or your MP3 player or emailed. I tried searching "genealogy" by subject and got 12 books. One was "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Online Genealogy", by Rhonda R. McClure. I also searched "French language" and got 30 hits. A nice feature of Netlibrary is that it keeps a list of your recent searches and suggests related topics.

Meez

I have been having a lot of fun with Meez. Meez lets you create 3D identities which you can use in your email, IM or blog. You can select the physical features you want on your meez, animate it and dress it. I am still playing with it to see what it can do. There are many similiar programs like Meez.

Flickr

Flickr is an interesting site which allows you to store and organize your photos online. You can upload photos from your computer, email them or post them to your blog. Flickr gives you the option of sharing your photos with others or making them only available to family and friends. You can even do a slide show of your pictures. There are many things you can with flickr, I have not figured it all out yet. But, so far, it seems kind of nifty.

71/2 Habits of Successful Lifelong Learners

My worst learning habit is probably my lack of confidence. I am sometimes afraid to try new things. But I am working on that. On the other hand, my best learning habit is... guess what? I love to play. Play helps you forget your fear of learning new things. In a way, I guess these two habits kinda balance each other. Plus, I am very curious about everything. I think that being interested in a lot of stuff makes life fun.
